The above pic courtesy of http://danzee.org/cars/Cam_Sensor/M52_Intake_Cam_Sensor_Replacement.html, Actually the view is of M52TU, NOT M52 but the hose prevents the sensor from backing out the hole on the M52.
Once I removed the PCV hose connection, VANOS solenoid and subject hose and the oil filter cover, got the challenge of a lifetime!!
Trying to cut the TY-wrap holding the sensor cable……..
One hand snaked under the intake to push the connector release spring and pull the vice grip with the other hand.
